1975 Ferrari 308 GT4 Dino
Built 3.2L Stroker Engine
Custom Metal Widebody
Here is something you don’t see everyday - a vintage period correct modified Ferrari. Finished in its original Rosso Corsa with a custom widebody, this Dino looks like no other Ferrari on the road. There is a lot to talk about on this car so let’s dive into our favorite part - the powerplant.
The 3.3L stroker motor was built with a 328 crank, JE pistons + cylinders & Fast Road / Rally cams. The 4 carburetors were upgraded along with a single distributor conversion running MSD ignition. This combination paired with the custom center-exit exhaust checks off all the sensory boxes you would want to have out of a 50 year old Italian hot rod - it is powerful, has a beautiful choppy idle, and makes the most incredible induction sound. A lot has gone into this prancing horse maintenance-wise to get it up to spec. We had a major service, including timing belt, performed along with a Birdman fuse box upgrade (common weak point on these cars) and a complete ignition distributor rebuild. All of these items along with various other odds and ends were serviced in order to make the car reliable and easily usable every day.
The 308 GT4 Dino had a big reputation to live up to given the fact that its younger brother, the 246 Dino, was such a success. Most would agree that its Bertone design was a bit controversial due to its wedge shaped look but with the widebody and aggressive stance on this car, it is the perfect example of what the car should have looked like from the factory. The car rolls on rare Compomotive 3-piece forged F40 wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes R888 tires. The car presents very well and the paint shines nicely but it definitely has its fair share of patina throughout. For those looking for a show car, this is not it. This Dino is a driver with character and heck of a personality. The trend continues on the interior, which presents nicely overall with the exception of some aging, most noticeably on the dash. The car has been fitted with vintage Recaro bucket seats but the original seats are included with the sale.
Buyer will receive books, manuals, service records and some extra parts.
